There is this thing, it’s called our civic duty. When I was twelve years old and joined the Boy Scouts, we all had to memorize this: A scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.
Now, I’m not saying it is dumb or smart to pay or not pay ones taxes, but what I am saying is most of us, not born to privilege, do our civic duty and pay our bills and taxes, and it’s not always easy. I wonder how many Scouts are going to step in the voting booth and cast their vote for someone who is untrustworthy, not loyal, unhelpful, unfriendly, definitely not courteous, very unkind, and obedient? I’ll leave that decision up to you. Cheerful? I will leave that one up to you too. Thrifty? l’d say words like cheater and welsher! Brave? A draft dodging chicken hawk. He is ‘clean’, but I wonder about his mind, which is, in my opinion, definitely not reverent.
So you ask why doesn’t Trump pay taxes? It is not that he has our best interests at heart, it is he has his best interests at heart. This whole fiasco has gotten so far out of hand it’s become a circus of the absurd. Using the words smart and Trump in the same sentence is an oxymoron. I believe it’s time for Trump to do his civic and civil duty. Pay his fair share of what this great country has done for him, apologize to all the people he’s mistreated, show some true class, admit he’s a human being, and step aside and let the adults step in and do their civic duty.
