“Jeez, everything was going so well!” When you were a kid, how often did you hear from your parents, “Do as I say! Not as I do!” Or “Because I say so!” I realize that kids sometimes put you in total frustration, confusion, and anger, but let’s look at what it has done to us. In parent’s defense, they are trying to protect us most of the time, but words have confusing meanings, especially to a child! They see something with their eyes and are told something different in their ears, I’m asking, don’t you think that’s a little confusing?
It comes down to trust. Do you trust what you’re being told, or do you trust the entity that is telling you? I think this is the “trump syndrome,” he just connects with our lack of trust. He just says don’t trust anyone or anything but me, just like daddy. Do as I say! Not as I do! Why? Because I say so!” We are so gullible! I call it bad parenting. Over the years, instead of spending two or three extra minutes to explain things in simple terms to our young children, we blow them off with, “Because I say so!”
