..A HORROR STORY..

I love denial! I’ve spent most of my life from adolescence to adulthood trying to perfect it. It’s been how I’ve dealt with death, relationships, and life in general. I really don’t know how to accept reality when it’s harsh or painful, but unfortunately there are moments in our lives that are undeniable, and I experience one of them this morning!

It’s February 21, 2024, usually the depth of winter in the state of Montana, but things are changing and it’s undeniable. This morning when I took the dog out I saw a robin! This may not sound like a horror story to you, but it scared the shit out of me. Robins don’t show up here until late March or April, it’s just too cold. Climate change is upon us and it’s undeniable, for me seeing a robin in February is the proverbial canary in the coal mine!

We see the droughts, storms, floods, and all the associated disasters that we are all in denial about while the planet 🌏 we live on is getting ready to get rid of us. It truly may be too late to save ourselves from the long unmerciful price we are going to pay for our ignorance and denial of reality. Rachel Carson in her book Silent Spring, published in September 1962 about the affects of pesticides on our environment, was a warning, sixty two years ago!

There has been some movement in regards to improving our environmental conditions, but like me most people are obviously in denial, but a robin, in February, in Montana, it truly is a Horror Story.
