1973 Steely Dan changed the way I listened, thought about, and played R&R music. I started to use their lines in my conversation with friends, and envied their cord and musical structure that I knew I would never be talented enough to play. Great to listen to when your depressed, sad, straight, stoned, happy, confused, or riding in an elevator. Way back they warned us about the wrong way to “settle up your bill!” And then Fagen told us, tongue in cheek, “what a beautiful world 🌎 it could be!”
